In preparation for the online proctored exam, please follow the guidelines below.


Camera Requirements


An internal or external web camera is required during your exam session.

Proper placement of your web camera will reduce interruptions during the exam. Your camera must be positioned to show as much of you and your workstation as possible. An external camera with a long lead is ideal, however if you are using an internal camera, aim to get the best angle and distance you can. Note: Recording devices (such as camcorders) are not permitted.



Set-up Your System forty-eight hours before the exam

For a successful testing experience, complete the steps in this tutorial at least forty-eight hours prior to your proctored exam. If you require further assistance regarding the set-up steps, please refer to the FAQ on the Webassessor Support Page: www.kryteriononline.com/support


Please read all of instructions below BEFORE starting your exam.


1. To ensure you can launch the exam, verify your system requirements:



Windows


Hardware:

  • Minimum 50MB available space
  • Screen Resolution 1024 x 768 or greater
  • Webcam and Microphone
  • Internet access (Recommended minimum of 1 Mbps upload / 1 Mbps download)


Operating Systems:

  • Windows 10
  • Windows 8 (Touch screens require the use of a mouse and keyboard) 
  • Windows 7 


Installed Applications:

  • Internet Explorer (version 9.0 or above) required for Sentinel Secure™ * 
  • Adobe Flash ActiveX (Latest for Internet Explorer) 
  • Net Framework 4.0 
  • Ports Opened - 80, 443, 1935 as well as 8082, 8083, 8084, 8085, and 8087 
  • Administrator Rights


Mac

 

Hardware:

  • Minimum 50MB available space
  • Screen Resolution 1024 x 768 or greater
  • Webcam and Microphone
  • Internet access (Recommended minimum of 1 Mbps upload / 1 Mbps download)


Operating Systems:

  • OS X (10.7 or newer)
  • OSX 10.9.1 is not supported, but 10.9.2 or newer is

Installed Applications:

  • Safari (Latest Version) required for Sentinel Secure™ *
  • Ports Opened - 80, 443, 1935 as well as 8082, 8083, 8084, 8085, and 8087 
  • Administrator Rights

 


* You may install and launch your exam using Chrome or Firefox



2. Visit www.kryteriononline.com/webcam-checker to check webcam, mic and upload/download speed

3. After allowing access, verify that you can see yourself and your microphone is functioning



4. Click Begin Test to verify your internet speed meets minimum requirement

5. Uninstall any earlier Sentinel Applications (if applicable)



Windows

  1. Click on the Start/Windows
  2. Go to Control Panel
  3. Select Uninstall a Program under Programs
  4. Click in the Program name
  5. Select uninstall

Mac

  1. Click on the Apple Menu on the top-left
  2. Go to Finder
  3. Find the Applications folder
  4. Scroll down to find the program
  5. Click and drag the program to the trash bin

6. Install Sentinel Secure™

Windows

  1. Close all open applications and log in to your Webassessor account
  2. Click Install Sentinel from your Home page
  3. Depending upon your browser: 
    Click Run for Internet Explorer
    Click download setup.exe file for Chrome
    Click Save and once downloaded double-click the setup.exe file for Firefox
  4. Click Next once the Sentinel Secure Setup appears
  5. Read and Accept the terms of the End-User License Agreement and click Next
  6. Click Install and Finish

Mac

 

  1. Close all applications and login to your Webassessor account
  2. Click Install Sentinel from your Home page
  3. Depending on your broswer:
    The file should automatically begin the installation for Safari. If not, double click the Sentinel Secure package
    - Select Save and once downloaded double click the SentinelSecure.pkg file for Firefox
    - Click Download SentinelSecure.pkg file for Chrome
  4. Click Continue when the Welcome tp Sentinel Secure Installer appears
  5. Select English, and then ontinue to accept the End-User License Agreement and click Agree
  6. Click Install
  7. You may need to make changes to your computer by entering the Administrator's password and clicking Install Sentinel
  8. Click Close

7. Login to Webassessor and from your home page, click Launch

Testing Environment Requirements and Important Notes

Ensure the room is well lit, quiet, and free from distraction.


You will be recorded and monitored during the entire exam experience.

Tabbing away from the exam is NOT permitted. 


Your work station must be clear except for: one computer, one monitor, one keyboard and one mouse.


Disable software/hardware that has the capability to interfere with your proctored exam during your test session, for example, Pop-up blockers or Anti-virus software.



Video Camera Preview Page and Camera Position


After launching your online test and accepting the terms of service, the Video Camera Preview page will appear.

 

Use the video on the screen to adjust your camera position and verify your microphone is working.

 

If you are using an external webcam, ensure the cord length is long enough to position your camera so that the Proctor can clearly see: your full head, torso, hands, keyboard and mouse.
